Welcome to St. James!

We hope you will join us for prayer during the Advent and Christmas liturgical seasons. As we wait in stillness and hope this Advent, let us reflect on “preparing a way for the Lord.” We invite you to pray with us as a parish community.  Whether you are a member of St. James, a visitor during this season, or have been away from the Church for some time – you are most welcome to worship here with us!

Here are some of our upcoming December events, Reconciliation Services and our holiday Mass schedule:

  • Adoration: Thursdays, from 4pm until 8pm, in the Parish Center Chapel.
  • Please also visit Advent Service / Giving Link for information about our many ways to give and serve this Christmas season!
  • December 3rd – Registration is open for the Women’s Welcome Renewal Weekend at St. James.
  • December 8th – The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (A holy day of obligation) Masses will be in the Parish Center Friday, December 7th at 7:00pm and Saturday December 8th 8:30am.
  • December 8th – (Saturday) – Milk and Cookies with Santa – 3:00-5:00pm in the St. James School Cafeteria. Join us afterward for the 5:00pm Mass in the Parish Center! See link here for more details.
  • December 8th Special public screening of “Glorious Lives – Cardinal Francis George” will start at 9:00am in the school library.
  • December 12th – Over 50 Social Group – Christmas Luncheon and Show – click here for more details.
  • After Masses December 15th & 16th – The Women of St. James (OSJ) will be selling COOKIES this weekend after all Masses.  They will be selling ONLY cookies – no bars, candy, muffins – JUST delicious COOKIES!
  • Please consider using St. James MANNA cards for your many Christmas gift card needs this Christmas. They make great Christmas gifts for friends and family!
  • December – Advent Multi-Parish Reconciliation Services – Local Catholic parishes will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation on four consecutive evenings during the Advent season.  Each of the services will have the same components, and you may attend on any evening, at any of the four parishes.  December 17that Our Lady of the Wayside – 7:30pm; December 18th – at St. Edna – at 3:00pm; December 20that St. Mary’s in Buffalo Grove – at 7:30pm; December 20th at Our Lady of the Wayside – 7:30pm ; December 20th – at St. Colette – 7:30pm (Spanish service)

Save the Date for our Multi-Parish Mission – Together At The Cross on January 14 – 17th at Our Lady of the Wayside.
