11:30 a.m. – Brain Science of Pornography Addiction & Recovery

Our contemporary culture has been pornified, and it shapes our assumptions about identity, sexuality, the value of women, and the nature of relationships. This presentation provides a concise introduction to the dangers of the phenomenon of internet pornography that is destroying individuals, marriages, and families. Because we are embodied beings, viewing pornography changes how the brain works, how we form memories and make attachments. By better understanding the biological realities of our sexual development, we can cultivate healthier sexual perspectives and interpersonal relationships. In this talk you will learn about the brain science behind why pornography use is devastating to relationships and causes a variety of health problems. Neuroscience rein forces biblical insights and church teachings about the dangers of sexual sins, but common spiritual approaches of prayer and accountability groups are often of limited help. Not only will you learn about the brain science behind pornography addiction, but also the brain science of behavior change that can lead to freedom, improved concentration, greater health, and a stronger capacity for real-life intimacy. Drawing on their own struggles with pornography and other unhealthy sexual behaviors, the speakers provide not only professional advice, but personal witness to the healing power that is possible. After helping thousands of people across the world, they will offer hope and help to anyone struggling with pornography, masturbation, and other sexual sins.

1:30 p.m. – Links Between Pornography and Social Problems

Is there a connection between pornography and sex trafficking, contraception, abortion, domestic violence, divorce, and other social problems? In this presentation you will learn how pornography use has been shown to fuel the demand for sex trafficking, increase the acceptance of contraception and abortion, lead to domestic violence, cause divorce, and create a culture that is abusive to children, women, and men. The porn industry, which fuels the demand for human sex trafficking, is the fastest-growing business of organized crime in the world today. Finding porn is easier than ever, and the porn is more violent. Porn viewers become desensitized to abuse, including rape and murder. Pornography leads to a misunderstanding of the human person and a violation of dig nity. We live in a pornographic culture and can’t drive down the street with bags over our heads. This presentation will offer suggestions on how to recognize the dangers and offers clarity in our confused culture. You will leave not with a depressed spirit, but an energized desire to defend dignity.
