Paulette Schmidt

Pastoral Council Executive Co-Leader

Tell us about yourself:
I married my best friend, Deacon Paul, 54 years ago. Together, we trained for the Diaconate four years before he was Ordained in 2001. We have an adult daughter and son, and three bright, handsome grandsons. In my ‘free’ time I enjoy flower gardening, sewing, photography, baking, writing, reading and watching our grandsons play sports.

When did you start serving at St. James?
Immediately upon our move to IL and St. James Parish from Michigan, in 1980, Paul and I jumped right into our role of Service in numerous capacities, continuing what we had been doing since were first married. We have always centered our lives around God, and the desire to more closely serve Him and His people came to fruition within the Diaconate Community. God is the most important person in our marriage.

Why are you passionate about serving at St. James?
I love Jesus and am truly grateful and thankful for the numerous blessings He has given Paul and me here, at St. James. The amazing people He’s put in my life for the past 41 years have become my Family…a diverse and Holy Family. During this last year on the Parish Council, I intend to work alongside Fr. Ed in his pastoral work to grow St. James through our visionary Mission Statement…”To Be Disciples of Christ and Make Disciples of Christ.” I will continue to serve and share my love of Jesus with everyone He puts into my life.
