MISSION: The St. James Divorce Support and Recovery Ministry is committed to the healing and recovery of those that have experienced separation and/or divorce. Our goal is to reinforce that your faith in God is the pathway to hope, healing and renewal.

WHO WE ARE: The St. James Divorce Support and Recovery Ministry is a faith based, structured and compassionate ministry designed to support the needs of divorced and/or separated Catholics (including children). Our group meets on a regular basis to support, educate, and encourage our members. Our ministry consists of divorced, separated and married Catholics who are committed to ensuring that a change in marital status only brings one closer to God and to those in their parish community.

Nobody escapes being wounded. We all are wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not, ‘How can we hide our wounds?’ so we don’t have to be embarrassed, but, ‘How can we put our woundedness into the service of others?’ When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers. (Henri Nouwen)

This ministry addresses the needs of divorced, disenfranchised Catholics and their families through:

  • Voluntary, community resource building (workshops, guest speakers)
  • Clear understanding of on-going changes in the Church relating to divorce
  • Psychological/spiritual component to promote healing and increase faith
  • Retreats
  • Socialization
