St. James EDGE will be presenting Into the Light Life Teen teaching which is a youth safety teaching, to all EDGE youth at EDGE on Sunday, April 16th. This type of program is required by the Archdiocese of Chicago in their ongoing effort to improve the protection of all youth. Into the Light is designed to help youth understand what a safe environment is and why our God-given dignity requires that we recognize the respect due to all people. We should be aware of red flags to watch out for in any environment and be prepared to tell an adult if we, or someone we know, has felt uncomfortable around an adult or members of the clergy. We can continue to develop healthy relationships through Christ-centered love and respect.
Participation in a safe environment teaching is required for our youth by the Archdiocese of Chicago.
St. James Religious EDGE has an “opt-out” policy whereby the parent/guardian must sign a permission form to withdraw his/her child from participating in the curriculum. If you do not wish your child to participate in the curriculum, please complete the form below prior to Sunday, April 16th. Your youth is welcome to show up late for EDGE at 3:45pm or wait in the Bulldog Commons until the teaching is over.
If you choose to opt-out, it is recommended that you review personal safety with your youth at home.
Know of our prayers for you and your family,
