St. James Religious Education Program will be presenting KidSmartz, a child safety program, to all RE students at our March 7th assembly. This program is approved by the Archdiocese of Chicago in their ongoing effort to improve the protection of all children. KidSmartz is designed to help children understand safety risks, learn about self-protection strategies, and feel empowered to report attempted abductions. Participation in a child protection training is required for our students by the archdiocese.
St. James Religious Education has an “opt-out” policy whereby the parent/guardian must sign a permission form to withdraw his/her child from participating in the curriculum. If you do not wish your child to participate in the curriculum, please complete the form below prior to March 7th, 2023. Your child will receive alternate lessons/activities to complete during that class time, or you may choose to arrive after the presentation on March, 7: Arrival at 5:00 or 7:00.
If you choose to opt-out, it is recommended that you review personal safety with your child at home. Sincerely,
Bethany Larson
Religious Education Coordinator
