Tell us about yourself:
I grew up in Georgia, the oldest of 3, going through EDGE and Life Teen as a teenager myself. This drew me into the Catholic Church which ultimately led me into desiring to serve. After appreciating the Catholic community from high school, I searched for something similar as I went to the University of Notre Dame. After graduating, I followed my heart by working in Day Centers for Women, Shelters and Maternity Homes. In October of 2022, I met my husband while he was visiting South Bend from Chicago. In 2023, I moved to Chicago, got married and we began to form our lives here, choosing St. James as our parish. For the past year I have volunteered as a Core Member for Life Teen, leading a group of freshman girls. I quickly came to realize how much joy Sunday evenings brought me, leading me to this position.
When did you start serving at St. James?
I volunteered at St. James beginning in September of 2023 for Life Teen and then began working as the Middle School Coordinator of Ministry beginning in June of 2024.
Why are you passionate about serving at St. James?
Something about St. James that through me to it was that mission of Be Disciples, Make Disciples. This requires ownership over our faith and involvement in our Parish. This is a very active mission with a wide range of ministries to help with this. I also am passionate about how much they really focus on the youth to help our church continue to grow.
