FAQ’s

So, what exactly are we doing?
The Life Teen Summer Camps staff plans, prepares, and facilitates the programming, liturgies and activities for each day. Each day your group will experience daily Mass, opportunities for theSacrament of Reconciliation, and other powerful prayer experiences. Each morning, work groups are sent out to work sites to serve the local community. These sites can range from people’s homes, local parishes, community parks, organizations, and more. Our evening sessions will break open scriptural topics to lead your teens into a more authentic encounter with Christ. (https://lifeteen.com/camps/restore-mission-camps/)
How much does it cost?

Those of you who are members of Life Teen at St. James have a registration fee of $1100. Those who are not involved with Life Teen will be asked to apply with their registration form. Registration is $1300. Priority will be given to teens who are already members of Life Teen at St. James.

Are there international trips that will be offered?

We would love to take teens on international mission trips again; however, we are selective of the organizations we partner with to ensure the safety of the entire group. This summer, international trips were not offered with our trusted partners. We are exploring other organizations and possibilities for future international trips.

How are we getting to and from Kansas City?

Each registration includes transportation to Kansas City via coach bus. Chaperones will also have access to a car while in Kansas City for any emergencies.
Where are we staying while we are there?

Following a full travel day, we will be spending our first night (June 23) at Comfort Suites Speedway – Kansas City (3000 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, KS, 66109, US).

Accommodations during the mission trip will be at Savior Pastoral Center (12601 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66109), which is a former seminary and current retreat center for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS. Beds, towels, and linens will all be provided in our rooms. (https://archkck.org/savior/)

Do you need chaperones? We could always use chaperones! If you are VIRTUS trained (or willing to be trained), and interested in joining us on mission, please contact Josh Jones ([email protected]).

Mission Our Lady of the Angels

Grades 9-12

Dates:
July 21-22

Mission Our Lady of the Angels is located in Humboldt Park and serves one of the poorest neighborhoods in America. For this reason, the Franciscan Sisters have asked us to bring teens 16 and older. At Mission OLA, we will be working alongside the Sisters bringing in and sorting through food pantry donations and then distributing food to about 250 families.Find out more information about the Sisters and Mission Our Lady of the Angels here: https://www.missionola.com/index.html

St. Malachy

Grades 9-12

Dates:
July 23-24

After a full week of service, we end the week at St. Malachy Catholic School! Most of the work our teens will be doing will be providing additional resources to the staff and students to help them prepare their school for the fall. In the past teens have cleaned, painted, ripped out carpeting, organized closets, designed bulletin boards and our personal favorite, hosted a cookout with the kids in the school complete with a bounce house, face painting, various activities and sports.

Register For Local Mission

Calling all parents and adults!

Are you interested in joining us on mission as a chaperone? Chaperones are crucial to our youth group at St. James. Not only do look out for our teens to keep them safe on our mission trips, but they work side by side with our teens on service projects and most importantly, meet the teens where they are in their faiths and accompany them along the way.

All chaperones must be over 21 years of age and fully VIRTUS Compliant adhering to Safe Environment requirements by the Archdiocese.

If you have additional questions or would like to volunteer as a chaperone, please contact Christina Hudson ([email protected]).
