Fr. Paul Stein

Associate Pastor

Tell us about yourself:

Fr. Paul is a native of the Chicagoland area; he grew up at St. Hubert Parish in Hoffman Estates (now part of Holy Archangels Parish). He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before entering the University of St. Mary of the Lake, where he was ordained in 2001. Over the years, he has served the Archdiocese of Chicago in a variety of roles, including associate pastor at St. Turibius, Director of Liturgy at Holy Name Cathedral, pastor of St. Sylvester, president/rector of St. Joseph College Seminary, administrator of St. Catherine Labouré, and pastor of St. Frances of Rome. He now serves as associate pastor at St. James Parish in Arlington Heights.

When did you start serving at St. James?

Fr. Paul began his ministry at St. James on the First Sunday of Advent in 2022.

Why are you passionate about serving at St. James?

Fr. Paul believes that God has called him to be at St. James at this particular time. He experiences an encounter with Jesus through serving His people and finds great joy in the community. The people of St. James are a delight, and he sees the fruits of the Holy Spirit actively present in parish life. For him, it is a privilege to be part of what God is doing here.
