What do you enjoy most about working with people or teaching?
I love learning and being challenged to grow. Teaching, especially when I’m able to help lead people as we all grow in relationship with Christ and His Church, never fails to offer me new and surprisingly joyous opportunities to learn and to grow in unexpected and incredibly beautiful ways!
What is something your family enjoys doing together?
Now that my children are married – or soon to be married – and starting families of their own, we all look forward to a “Family Dinner” gathering once a week. Everyone enjoys making special requests for meals, bringing something special to add to the table or for dessert, and most of all, everyone looks forward to having some fun with the newest additions to our continuously growing family!
How has your Catholic faith shaped your life or career?
Being Catholic has become defining for me. It wasn’t always that way. I fell away from the Church for a while in my life. But, with the help of God’s grace and many wonderful people who were willing to share their faith with me, my Catholic faith helps me see goodness, embrace truth, be overwhelmed by beauty, and love deeply. So now, I can’t help but long to do for others what so many people did for me!
What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
That my favorite music is chant, and it’s the only thing I listen to whenever I am alone. My children like to tease me about it, especially when they hear how loudly I tend to play it in my car!
What is one simple message or encouragement you would love to share with our parish community?
Whatever is happening at any given moment, on any given day, I like to try to “stay on the road to heaven”, meaning, make choices, in little moments as well as big moments, that will keep me moving toward God and not away from Him. I’ll often say it out loud when I’m faced with a challenge, “What do I need to do right now in order to stay on the road to heaven as I face this challenge”.
